I've now spent more money on just the tri-coat paint job on my Impala restoration than I've spent on entire new cars I've bought in the past. The last thing I want to do is scratch it. The color I selected is GM's new Radiant Red that I've seen used on Chevy Pickups, et al and, I believe, was the color of the Corvette in the recent new Christmas movie - Red One.

I am looking for recommendations for a quality fender cover that will help protect my paint.

Thanks.

Are you thinking for basically just working on it while reaching over the fenders? There is some water-less wash sprays and a rolling technique you can use with a microfiber cloth. That followed by placing a clean bath towel over it works ok but you need to watch as the towel can slide and it won't protect against an impact well. NAPA use to sell the old-school fender covers but I think the trick is still the fender needs to be perfectly clean and so does what you use as a cover else you're grinding "dirt" against the paint.

I like the Fender Grippers. They won't slide off the fender and wrenches and stuff will stay put. When I got mine 15, 20 years ago they were sold by Snake-Oyl, maybe bought out by Holley.
