A friend has a bad bearing in the pulley. What is the trick to removing it?

You need a puller, similar to a steering wheel puller that bolts to the compressor and pushes on the shaft. Should be able to rent one at a parts store.

Typical steering wheel puller not large enough to span the 6"+ compressor pulley. Had to fabricate my own, but got it done.
