Spent some time on the interior, got the seats out, carpet and underlayment out to check for rust.

First pass shows a few small holes in the rear floor pan on the driver side, but have to spend some quality time with a grinder with a wire brush and see what the rest of the floor has to offer.

Did anybody make it to the Spokane Speed & Custom show over Father's Day weekend in Spokane, WA?

I was able to be there Fri & Sat, lots of great rigs on display, one building dedicated to strictly Tri-Fives. Lots of inspiration and ideas and some just nice rides!!

Got to meet Ian Roussel from Full Custom Garage and talk with him awhile both days. What a very nice and approachable guy! Got to meet his wife Jamie as well, she even managed to talk me into $100.00 worth of SWAG!

Added some original GM replacement parts to pantry! Last year I found a N.O.S. License plate light on ebay:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/cPPdNDGhDPdCRK538

And then last week on ebay I found a pair of N.O.S. rear fender ends that arrived today...MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

https://photos.app.goo.gl/eUPuPMvPNGwtrcby8

Not really necessary to have at the moment, but when original GM stuff shows up, I try and grab it if it is fairly reasonable so I have the "real thing" when it's time comes.

Driver side lower fender skin rust work started. Got run out of the shop due to the heat, but did get the patch tacked in. Finish welding and then replace the crusty brace and call that one done...

Finished the welding on the backside and coated to protect from future rust. Also cut & fitted the brace section and painted the backside with the same rust treating paint as the inner fender. Now letting cure overnight. Finish installing the brace section tomorrow, then blend/smooth the welds on the front side and that fender will be done for the time being.

wow, thanks for sharing,
makes the people that have done such work appreciate the work of others that has to be done to get a car back to some sort of sanity,
I thought my car was over whelming, but I made it through it.
It is worth the work, I enjoy just looking at mine, I know you will too.
Thanks again.

Well, everytime I walked out and looked at the floor I seen more small pinholes opening up and areas that will certainly be worse when I try and clean the rust off.

I figured with the time and effort I am putting into getting this done, it would not be right to piecemeal the floor together, so I decided to just suck it up and will get it done with all fresh metal.

The inner door bottoms are for the most part solid, just a lot of surface rust so far other than some small holes at front lower corner.

I have come to the conclusion that I may as well just take about 2" or so off the whole door skin bottom. Had a few more small holes open up when I stripped the paint, so much like the floor, just going to bite the bullet and not piecemeal it.

I have door skins for both sides and the driver side door bottom, so if I just open it up all the way across, I can concentrate of cleaning the door bottom which is pretty solid on this side and can also have easier access to the inside to treat and seal that as well.

This will also correct a small crease at the very back, bottom end that carried over into the lower quarter where I had earlier found an area of filler had been applied before the red paint had been done.
