It was driven into that garage in 1985 and parked, never moved again until I recently dragged it out and took ownership.

Was originally an Inca Silver car, with a Powerglide tranny.
P/O swapped it to a 3 speed w/floor shift and did the red paint.

Mine had the silver/black cloud interior but the PO changed the interior to red/black cloud and dyed the headliner black and painted over the original Dust rose pearl and white body to red.

Been busy with life's other requirements and honey-to-do things that seem to sneak up when you aren't looking.
But, I did come across a parts car, a pretty well cannibalized 4-door, hardtop, but does have some good sheet metal I may be able to get patch panels from here & there.
Also was a factory power brake and power steering car with those parts still attached.
Trying to save up a little to have some of the bigger metal work taken care of. Shooting for Sept or Oct for that, I think some of the good sheet metal on the parts car will help there.

Picked up a nice Saginaw 4 speed tranny for a good price.
Have not looked up the numbers yet, but owner said he got it many years ago from an early (73 or 74 can't remember), Camaro that was wrecked.
As he remembered, it had around 50K miles on it.
One more small piece of the puzzle off the list...

I hate seeing that location of rust,
I notice the frame appears to be one piece frame,
Just wondering what is the letter after "57" on the vin tag,
That type of rust surprises me if that letter is "O" or "L".

Yes, it is a one-piece frame, that was from a 4-door, hardtop parts car.
The red car is an Oakland, CA., build. The car was kept under that blue plastic tarp all those years in a garage that was only climate controlled in the sense that it did not get directly rained on.
Thinking the rust formed in those spots due to condensation dripping down and the tarp holding the moisture under it.

Got a great buy on a 57 frame that had rust free body perches and was also a Sport Coupe with the extra body mount bracket that my frame I am working on was missing. So instead of having to try and repair the rusted out mounting brackets, I can replace with solid, factory ones.

Spent some time today working in the shop and took a much closer look at the frame I picked up and it is not a a 57, either a 55 or 56 instead.
I took the fellow at his word it was from a 57 and didn't look at the whole frame over too close as we got it out of where it had been stored for the last decade or two. Well, that meant 2 of the brackets I need are too short it seems.
Pretty sure he believed it to be a 57 and that he was not trying to pull a fast one on me and truth be told, it has more than enough good pieces I need that I can make do with what I have so not too concerned.

According to the parts catalog, all of the body mount brackets are the same for all 3 years. See Group 7.330, Bracket, Body

Nope, both located in the same position on both frames.
Every other bracket matches each other on both frames except for those two, so no idea what is going on.
I know the gray primer frame is a 57 as I took it off the parts car myself, when I get my project back home from storage I can look under it and see what the same bracket looks like on it and whether it matches the long or the short ones...or as my luck tends to run it could easily not be a match to either! :crazy :

You are correct. and the #2, angled bracket on both frames is exactly the same.
The difference I am talking about between the 2 frames is the #3 bracket, which I have included pictures of showing they are clearly 2 different lengths.
I am physically looking at these pieces and they are not the same, but are from the same location on the frame, the longer one on a 1957 frame and the shorter one from the 55/56 frame.
I don't know what more can be said, they are clearly different (regardless of what the manuals or catalogs may say) in this one aspect.
And as I have said, ALL the other body brackets are visually verified on both frames and are exactly alike in size and shape.
No idea why these two (1 one each side) are so different..but they clearly are.
Here are pictures of the #2 and #3 body mounts, can see that #2 from both are the same.
For some reason, as has been shown, #3 is different, by about 2" between the frames.

I should mention, I did not get the ruler in the exact same spot because of the welds and trying to shoot a picture with the other hand, but measuring with both hands, they are the same measurements.

All the frame info for the body mounts is listed in the assembly manual for each year. The body mount brackets are the same for each body style and for each location. You can add body mount brackets for a body style that needs them, or not use extra ones for a body style that doesn't use them.
The only difference between years is the front frame rail extensions which mount the front bumpers, the location of the rear bumper mount holes and front leaf spring mounting holes - they are the same for 55-56 but 57 is different. Plus the shackle mounts that acardon mentioned. There 55 is one configuration and 56-57 is another. The shackle mounts are not a problem, you just use shackles that match the shackle mount.

OK, the difference is the body style, not the year model. Different body styles have different brackets. Apparently it wasn't a sport coupe.

Now that makes the most sense of it all, thanks!!
Based on the diagram I was working off of, the body mounts and number matched what should be on a Sport Coupe, so that is what I was going off of as I had no other history on the frame.
The frame I am modifying with upgraded components was not from a Sport Coupe, so that is why I was excited to get this one, along with the brackets being solid and not rusted through like mine are.
