3 of the four emblems on my Laguna S3 are missing the center multicolored portion. There are new emblems are available on eBay for around $60. I am planning on scanning the colored part and having them printed on vinyl. There is a clear protective lens that covers colored part. I am looking for a source for something plastic or glass to use as a cover. The rest of the emblem if undamaged can be repainted. I plan on providing these to members at cost plus shipping. Biggest roadblock is the clear lens. Any ideas or help appreciated.

I think those ones on e-bay are some kind or a repo. A complete set of NOS emblems on e-bay was bringing 600-700 bucks several years ago. I would just buy the 60 dollar ones and see how good the quality is.

I would also communicate with this "the parts place" seller first. His pictured emblems do not match up to what the add claims they are. Maybe he was just lazy and took one set of pictures for all the auctions.

Created the colored emblem in ms paint. My son works for a plastics place and brought home some clear plastic 1/16" thick. Is going to get a quote on the two sizes I need. Going to repair my own. Will post pics when done.

I for one can tell you that the emblems sold by "The Parts Place" are garbage. 1 Season in the driveway and the emblems faded. They evidently didn't use UV stable dyes.

Several years ago a man named George Laboda in Pennsylvania reproduced the inserts as heavy grade vinyl stickers. They were not thick like the originals, but they looked accurate. He sold them privately and I think on www.EBAY.com. He made a run and sold them off. That was 6-7 years ago. At the same time I made my own. I took a photo of an NOS emblem and scaled it down to the right size. I saved it as a jpg file and then printed it out on clear acetate sheet with a laser printer. I glued that to a sheet of white hobby plastic and covered it with hobby resin (like you see on wood table tops). I cut the inserts out and glued them to the emblems. They looked okay but the resin was not uv stable so it bubbled up in the hot Florida sun. The original emblems were made by at least two vendors. The GW Auld Company in Chicago made the ones with the plastic inserts. As you know, they faded and eventually fell out. Later ones had a thin aluminum stamping that was painted. It stayed in better but still faded. Most everything that you do will eventually fade and fall out. What I did looked okay but with advances in software or even 3d printing you should be able to make passable copies that look good.

Here's a comparison: Upper left, original plastic insert; upper right: my plastic copy; lower left, faded metal insert, lower right LaBoda's sticker insert.

Update: I found a new process for restoring S3 badges that utilizes clear epoxy resin for the colored center graphic and by adding a little white tint to the clear for the S-3. I apply it with a toothpick after mixing. I have a graphic file I can email to anyone interested. It contains 2 sizes. A large for the back and side emblems and a smaller one for the front grille emblem. The email will include the image file and links to the epoxy/tint on amazon.
