I twisted the guts out of a converter in my pickup once while hauling a heavy load and pulling a two-horse trailer. I stomped it getting on the freeway and that was all she wrote. I could get it to move off to the side of the highway by flooring it because the faces of the twisted-off turbine or stator hub (I forget which) rubbing against each other created enough friction to actually drive them. But it had to be floored.
