Several years ago a man named George Laboda in Pennsylvania reproduced the inserts as heavy grade vinyl stickers. They were not thick like the originals, but they looked accurate. He sold them privately and I think on www.EBAY.com. He made a run and sold them off. That was 6-7 years ago. At the same time I made my own. I took a photo of an NOS emblem and scaled it down to the right size. I saved it as a jpg file and then printed it out on clear acetate sheet with a laser printer. I glued that to a sheet of white hobby plastic and covered it with hobby resin (like you see on wood table tops). I cut the inserts out and glued them to the emblems. They looked okay but the resin was not uv stable so it bubbled up in the hot Florida sun. The original emblems were made by at least two vendors. The GW Auld Company in Chicago made the ones with the plastic inserts. As you know, they faded and eventually fell out. Later ones had a thin aluminum stamping that was painted. It stayed in better but still faded. Most everything that you do will eventually fade and fall out. What I did looked okay but with advances in software or even 3d printing you should be able to make passable copies that look good.
