Hello!

The turn signals have stopped working on my 1988 Chevy C1500. The four way flashers work fine. All fuses are fine (checked them all). Both flashers replaced already and that wasn't it. I plugged in a new turn signal switch at column and that didn't work either. Could this be ignition switch related? Or does anyone have any other ideas? I'm grasping...

I own a 88 k1500, and I have the same problem, I found that the flasher block on the firewall was loose, I put a wedge to make it tight but it stil needs tightned down, I am not sure how to get behind the board, and resolder, or what?
I am also not sure if it is the same on a k, or a c model?

Hope this helped.

The flashers used in those had a tendency to gradually start sagging over time. Maybe the contacts got hot and melted in the block. Get a flashlight and look them over real good.

it could be ignition switch related, the t/signals do not get any current until the key is on,then there should be current at the t/s flasher.

Does your truck have tilt steering and do you use the tilt often. I have found when you use the tilt frequently over time the wires break inside the steering colum. You said you replaced the turn signal handle but did you replace the wireing harrness that runs through the steering colum for the turn signal switch.

I am still having this problem also.

A question though, does the flasher "unplug" from the board?
I felt alot of resistance when I tried to unplug mine, I did not want to break it, so I tried the poor man way to fix it?

Yes, it should pull straight out toward the seat.

It pulled straight out, found some corroision, clead it off, will try it when I drive home, worked on it during my lunch hour.

If I have to replace shoud I go heave duty if I never tow anything?
