During my truck rebuild, I'm wanting to convert the current 5 speed transmission to a 700R4 automatic. I've already got the transmission, but after some last minute information, come to find out that the output shaft is 27 spline. My existing transfer case is a 32 spline input. Now what do I do? Can I change just the input shaft on the transfer case? If so does anyone know the part number of the shaft? What is involved in changing it? My transfer case is an NP241C.
OR - Is there an adaptor shaft? I also have an NP207C transfer case from an S10 Blazer laying around with 27 spline input shaft, can I use that shaft in my 241C?
Here I am with money invested in a tranny, and in a new trans to transfer case adaptor(from GM) and I'm stuck with not being able to mate these things up. All because I listened to someone tell me it will work.
Can anyone help PLEASE? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure on the numbers of each t case? S-10 blazers come with 241C t cases.
Almost every one of them had a 700R4 in front of it so the parts should not be hard to find.
It might be easier and cheaper to just get a used transfer case.
FWIW if you don't already know a 241C came out of a chevy, a 241J came out of a jeep and a 241AMC came out of an AMC.
Only the Chevy has a 27 spline input.

Well, If these numbers are wrong, GM really F@#%$D up and mismarked the tags on these transfer cases. I'm willing to bet GM marked them right, and I'm reading them right.
As for being easier and cheaper to find another transfer case....EXACTLY what year and model full size truck do I need to find the transfer case from?

The numbers are probably right, big blazers came with 208 or 241 transfer cases, the s series had the 207 style. You actually don't need a shaft, the input to the transfer case is a gear with an internal spline to fit the transmission shaft, you can remove your present gear and install one with the correct spline count in it's place but it will require disassembling the transfer case, the 241 case is a better case than the earlier 208, but the aluminum cases are prone to cracking on both, I would think you could find that input gear from a junk 241 case without much trouble, they used that case well up into the mid-90's.

OK I was thinking of the NP231C sorry to ruin your day.
All S-series came with 231 transfer cases.
241C came in '88-'93 full sized.

95_Silverado, so what you're saying, I can't take the 27 spline input gear out of my S-Series 207C transfer case and put it into my 241C transfer case? Do I need to find a 241C transfer case with a 27 spline input gear?
Thing is, I called the dealer about a 27spline input for my transfer case, '88-90 that I asked about all had the same part number, regardless of whether it was 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton, or if it was automatic or stick, did'nt make a difference. The dealer did'nt show a spline listing, he just said they were the same number. Thanks,

I've already seen that site. It was a little help, but not complete. Anyone know what the GM part number is for a 27 spline input gear for a 241C? Or if the 207C input gear will work in my 241C?
That site was a bit vague.
Thanks,

The 241 and 207 inputs don't interchange.
Call drivetrain direct they are very helpful.
Personally I'd just get a t case from a junkyard amd either use it or swap out the input.
