Welcome to the board. You have a very complicated task one side and simple on the other. Simple to swap, complicated because there are differences.
Why do you want to remove the diesel? Just curious.
What year model is your truck? Does it have dual tanks?
Things that come to mind:
1. Add a power brake booster
2. Modify the fuel system for a SB mechanical pump.
3. Possibly change the radiator to a larger one
4. The tranny will shift way early/late and differently from the diesel motor. The settings for shifting are different between the motors if the tranny is automatic.
5. Is the electrical system 12 or 24 volt? I think all of these trucks were 12 volt even the diesel but I could be wrong.
6. Does the diesel have A/C?
I think someone on the board did the same conversion but on a 4X2.

If you can find a larger GM stock radiator than what's currently in your engine bay with the 6.2 i'll take a dozen of those.

My 6.2 came stock with a super duty radiator , its huge compared to the one that gasoline engines have. I dont know about switching from a 6.2 to a diesel..your going to run into dozens and dozens of problems just like me

Your going to have to unbolt bolt your fuel tanks , drop them and clean them, blow out the fuel lines or get brand new ones, im not even sure what you are going to do about the trannny i havnt figured that one out yet.. Its incredibly sluggish.

hmm what else... oh yea, your going to have to add an extention onto the fan clutch because the fan doesnt even reach the shroud..

Your hoses from your radiator are going to be mismatched, you gunna have to adapt them (PAIN IN THE ASS

Oh yea all chevys damned embulums say 6.2 diesel on them..

well i know there were tons of other naughty bits i forgot to mention but wow, you have some work on your hands

i have no idea how big the radiator is.the engine is obviously a 379 c.i. they tell me it was a 400 converted to a diesel.but i think i might drive it till it dies then buy another one.a truck with a 350 possibly fuel injected.

If yours is not an aftermarket upgrade it should be bigger.

AHHH!! Undisclosed information. The truck was previously a 400SB. That changes everthing. First of all that is why the truck is ssslllllooooowwww!! The tranny is designed to shift with the torque pattern of a gas engine not a diesel. If you had a diesel tranny the truck would shift differently. You won't need the brake booster either. It's already there. If the stock 400SB radiator is still there - LESS WORK to convert back!!
Clean the gas tanks and fuel system and drop in a SB!! I don't know if the accessories will transfer over. If not all the parts are easy to find.
If you want to convert back there is plenty of knowledge here to help.
