I was wondering if there are any good placed I'm missing when looking nationwide for a tri-five chevy. I live in New England, so I'm hesitant about buying up here because of rust issues, though I am keeping a look.

The places I've see are:

www.cctol.com
www.hemmings.com
www.gaspumpclassics.com
and of course here on chevy talk.

Are there any other good for sale places (dealer or otherwise) that specialize in classics? I bought my mustang from a printed autotrader, but that only really gives me local, which seems limited and will limit what I can find. I'm just being very picky about what I buy this time so I'll be looking for awhile, just want to cover all my bases.

Thanks.

These sites are obviously not specific to tri five cars, but each has a section for '55-56-57.
The last site is in PA and may have some resources for you to check.
You might try finding some local tri five clubs near you or check the CLASSIC CHEVY INTERNATIONAL (CCI in FL) monthly magazine for a large section of classified ads of cars and parts for sale.

You can't overlook eBay as a source for Classic Tri-five Chevys, as well as parts to maintain them. Not sure what your budget is, but if you are looking for a nice Western car, without any rust, you had better figure a trip to look at the vehicle. Buying a vehicle long distance makes it more difficult to inspect, but it also expands the list of vehicles available. Who knows, you might even find someone that posts on this board that could inspect a vehicle for you. Good luck in your search.

That's what I hope for if I find a car out west...someone here who wouldn't mind looking at that. That's what we do for the vintage mustang forum. Look at cars for each other, give feedback, and then I can decide if it is worth going out to see.

I keep an eye on ebay as well, but I don't like buying cars that quickly without a chance to really see them. 9-10 days is not a long time.

I found mine through a google search. "57 chevrolet wagon disc sale" or something to that effect. Yes, it took a bit of scrolling through other things, but it worked.

BTW, I saw a pretty cool '57 wagon on ebay last night. Black with flames. Pricey, but it looked good in the pics.

Just because eBay is an auction, that doesn't mean that you have to play by their rules. If you see a vehicle that you like, send the seller an email. Then you can deal direct and work out a deal. I bought my son a car, and found my '56 Corvette on eBay. Never actually put a bid in on either one of them.

I just bought my 55 from ebay . The seller had it on with a 'Buy it Now' , I called him and we had a long chat about the car and I hit the BIN button but paid less than the BIN price

Try Fargo, ND. Ask for John. "Heaven on earth" topic.
He has seen them lined up in rows according to years.

John from Fargo may be a little overwelmed by CT guys at this time. Luva, have you contacted any local guys or clubs ?

Not sure of why you are asking but yes there are a number of clubs in the area; some local and some not. I am familiar with a few of them but not a member in any of them.
I don't know of anyone currently selling a tri-5 in my area
but I do know of a '57 2dr HDTP in NC that was for sale a month ago.
