I am putting together a 350 from about 1971 to go in my 59 and want to know if the dipstick i bought for it( one of those cheap made in tawain type chrome ones!) is the right length.It is 19" overall length,The bent tube is 7 1/4" overall and 6 1/2" from the dimple where it sits in the block it never had an old one to measure against but i have a 283 one that is shorter

Be careful with those ChiCom dipsticks. I know of one being too long which caused all kinds of internal damage. I'd throw it away.

Tiki, I did a google search,plugged in 350 chevy chrome oil dipstick.
got a bunch info.
I checked 2 sites, ,they both sell Mr Gasket dipsticks, # 6235 for 65-79 350 small block drivers side mount.abt $8
www.northernautoparts.com
www.spiderautomotive.com there are many places to get this.
second question:are you still useing original stock oil pan.As some have changed to a Chrome oil pan as I have.
I will have to measure everything,but with 5 qts oil and run engine,it was at the add mark for full.
does this help any?

I just added 5 qts oil........started it up and then marked the dipstick accordingly.\I dont think the pan is any larger tyhen opriginal,looks the same.
