Does anyone have a link to an instruction sheet for replacing body mounts on a sedan?

Mike,
I think I have an adobe file from Danchuk. I will look for it and e-mail it, assuming I find it, to your e-mail address. Let me know when you receive it.

There are also body mount illustrations in the front sections of the assembly manual. If you don't have one, click on "reference section" and then on assembly manuals here: 55 assembly manual

Mike,
The instructions should be in your Comcast mailbox. If not, google for them by typing in Danchuk newsletter and body mounts.

Let me know how it works out. If not we'll try some other way.

John, Thanks for the Danchuk info.

Here was my delimma: To remove the old cushions, all I had to do was pull the spacer down from the bottom and slide the cushion out. All it took was raising the body 1/4" or so. However, the replacement set has the spacers welded to the big top washer, so I had to jack the body up another 1/2" - 3/4" to get the cushion/washer/spacer to drop in from the top. (Hope that make sense.) Anyway, I thought maybe I was doing it wrong.

Also got this surpise that I will work through today: The front 2 mounts (firewall and driver's floor) lined up perfectly, and so did the mount under the rear of the trunk. However, on the 4 mounts in between, the captive nuts in the body were offset from the frame mounts prox 5/16" outboard, so it's a challenge getting the bolts started. Today I plan to loosen all the bolts on the passenger-side mounts and jack that side of the body up. Maybe that will help line up the other side. Some kind of hydraulic "spreader" placed between the frame rails might work here. I can move the body on the frame a little with a pry bar, but it's hard to find anything on the floorpan to push against.

By the way, to lift the body I am jacking against a 6-ft 2x4 that I placed under the rocker panel (4" side vertically). Got this idea from a CCI instruction sheet I found on their website.

My wife says I love this stuff, but sometimes I'm not so sure.

Thanks for the help.

Mike, I wouldn't try to spread the frame, if the bolts were in there before, the body should be able to move enough to go back in. I think starting all the bolts before tightening any of them will do the trick. Good luck.

Thanks you, too, for the info. It's a job I'm not looking forward to tackling. I'm glad Danchuk provided such a detailed how to.

Good luck.

Got them all installed and several torqued down, after fighting body/frame alignment issues on the driver's side. Turns out the passenger's side was much easier to do.

I think the ideal bolts would have threadless 1/4"-5/16" diameter noses to help get them started when the 3/8" bolt holes are offset a little too much. These type bolts are sometimes used to connect an exhaust head pipe to exhaust manifold. I made a decent imitation using a grinder!

Now I know why there is so much slop (adjustabilty?) in the spacers and bottom cushions. It makes up for the +/- 1/4" tolerances.

Didn't use any shims, since none were used with the old mounts. Will finish torquing the bolts after the football games, and hope the door/fender gaps are still good.

Let us know about the door and fender gaps. I think Danchuk had a recent newsletter on gaps, too.

Got all of them torqued down to 25 lb/ft yesterday. Didn't have to use any shims. All the door gaps look good, and the doors open and close easily.

Again, the hardest part of the job was several of the holes in the frame brackets did not line up with the welded nuts on the body.

Get a friend to help you. Six of the mounts require someone on the the top and bottom to tighten the bolts.
