Username Post: What is Arma Steel?        (Topic#109471)

I was looking at a "P" cased posi unit and saw "Arma Steel" cast on 1 of it's internal pieces. Is this a GM product?

No reason to think it wouldn't be. Most GM castings do have "GM" cast on them somewhere. GM could have subcontracted the casting.

Arma Steel is a very high quality steel....Chevrolet used it in the exhaust valves on some heavy duty applications also.

I think Arma Steel is some foundry's version of cast nodular iron. The name's been around for years.

60's pontiacs like GTO have Arma steel crankshafts. I'm pretty sure it's the name given to the material for some special kind of cast or forged iron that was a better grade. I wonder if it was used in one particuliar foundry?

If someone else can design it, I sure as heck can figure out how to fix it!
